What's Trunk Show All About?

In 1987, Country Garden Club began this boutique shopping event to raise money for community projects by inviting specialty vendors and shoppers to a trunk show at Carranor Hunt and Polo Club. It was a successful first endeavor and now, for over 30 years, our annual fall Trunk Show has been the main source of funding for Country Garden Club's community projects. The show is a three day shopping extravaganza featuring 20-25 boutiques from around the country and attracts approximately 1,500 shoppers each year.  In 2024, we raised over $66,000.00 with our Trunk Show!

CGC Trunk Show

Through the Years

The Country Garden Club Trunk Show evolved from hosting McAdoo Rugs from Bennington, Vermont in the 1980s. Members loved the hand-loomed rugs and had so much fun they decided to add more vendors and make it a fundraising event. Jan Poole and Shelly Julius chaired the first show in 1987. Jan Poole had an antique business and was able to bring in many antique vendors in addition to the McAdoo Rugs. It was a two-day show with no entry fee. Vendors were housed by club members. That year Country Garden Club's net profit was $4,247.

With the success of that show the members were excited and decided to try again. The co-chairs in 1988 were Diane Johnston, Barbara Gerais and Stepper LeBoutillier. They researched nearby Trunk Shows and asked for their help in finding quality vendors. They charged a $3 entry fee for the public, but there was no charge for Garden Club members. Net profit that year was $7,842.

In 1989 Diane Johnston, Julie Lindsey and Kitty Choka chaired. A Preview Party for members and their spouses was added The tent was lit up with strings of lights in trees. Net profit was $8,853.

Diane Johnston and Julie Lindsey chaired the show in 1990. There were 27 vendors including a Club Booth with local vendors. There was much excitement when he Perrysburg Fire Department declared the Trunk Show was a fire hazard and vendors had to be moved into the tent! Net profit was $11,532. Club members thought they had hit the big time.

The brochures for the Trunk Show were handwritten by CGC members until 2001. Tea was held in the early days and needlepoint vendors were the most requested. For several years the trunk show offered a shopping night for men only. The trunk show has been held every year since except in 2020, where it was cancelled due to Covid. The most recent trunk show netted more than $66,000.

Prospective Vendors

Thank you for your interest being a vendor in the Country Garden Club Trunk Show. Our 2025 Vendor Applications are now closed. 2026 Vendor Application forms will be available here at a later date.

Vendor Basics

All accepted vendors are charged a booth fee based upon the size of their confirmed booth space and agree to donate 15% of all sales generated through the CGC Trunk Show in cash or by check paid to CGC before departing the show venue.  The document you sign is an application, not a contract. Country Garden Club of Perrysburg has the right to decide which applications to accept and will consider applicants based on uniqueness, diversity of merchandise, and how they best fit into the layout of our space. You will be notified by email of the decision of the Vendor Selection Committee concerning your application.   Details concerning the number of tables per space, chairs, linens and basic electricity will be provided and specified in the Vendor Agreement.  If you need to contact us, please email us at cgcperrysburg@gmail.com.

Exhibitor Space

The Carranor Club is a historic building with odd-shaped spaces. The fee for space ranges from $375 to $575 depending on the size of the space; whether electricity is available; and the location of the space.  Booth sizes may be requested, but are not guaranteed and will be assigned in the order that completed Vendor Agreements are confirmed.
