A society grows great when people plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” ~Greek proverb

Ongoing and Historical Projects of Note
Way Public Library
CGC has a long history of supporting the Way Public Library. Our first recorded donation was in 1939 for a library garden. In June of 2010 CGC paid for replacement of diseased ash trees in the library parking lot landscape. In September 2013, our donation was used for removal of 15 diseased ash trees in the parking lot area which were replaced with six patriot elms and six village green zelkovas.
Perrysburg Gateways
The Perrysburg Gateways project commemorated the Country Garden Club’s 75th anniversary and is an enduring legacy to our commitment to the beautification of the Perrysburg community. The gardens are a combination of formal garden areas and natural areas as well. Working in cooperation with the City, plans were drawn and a $25,000 ODOT grant was obtained to landscape the three main gateways into the City of Perrysburg. Accordingly, all plants are ODOT specific for near highway use. As a condition of the ODOT grant, CGC committed an additional amount to maintain the three areas.
Downtown Perrysburg Holiday Decorations
Since 1965, the CGC has provided the holiday decorations that adorn Louisiana Street in downtown Perrysburg. In 2011, the streets were lined with live evergreen trees which were then donated to the Wood County Parks for planting in parks and public spaces.
Downtown Perrysburg Hanging Baskets
Since 2004, CGC has provided the funding for the hanging baskets which grace the downtown summer streetscape and represents another collaborative project between the Club and the City.
